UVA Conference on National Defense and Intelligence
The UVA Applied Research Institute held an inaugural Conference on National Defense and Intelligence on June 15 and 16. The conference kicked off with a barbecue at Dabney Grove Pavilion and opening remarks by University of Virginia President Teresa Sullivan.
In her speech the President emphasized the importance of industry and government partners within the University and spoke to UVA’s track record of success, including the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centers, the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing, and UVA’s new Data Science Institute.
“The message that I want to share with our colleagues in government and industry,” she remarked, “…is that UVA is open for business and eager for engagement in these kinds of relationships.”
The conference was sponsored by several park tenants, including Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, and SHINE Systems and Technologies, and attracted more than 30 companies, 30 agencies and groups within the Department of Defense, and six universities.
